Zoosk Reports Record Revenue in Q1 2013

Zoosk, an industry leader in mobile and online dating, today announced a company record: revenue exceeded $40 million in the first quarter of 2013. This milestone comes as the company celebrates its fifth anniversary.

Also in the first quarter of 2013, Zoosk’s website experienced a 116 percent increase in monthly total unique visitors compared to the same period last year (source comScore). For its mobile products, the number of monthly active users increased more than 200 percent year-over-year. Zoosk attributes this growth to its distinctive approach to matchmaking and a strategic focus on mobile.

Over the past five years, Zoosk’s matchmaking technologies have evolved so singles can meet people more easily and efficiently. Zoosk’s Behavioral Matchmaking engine learns users’ preferences as they interact with potential matches, models their behavior, and continuously improves subsequent suggestions. This results in better matches and a higher level of engagement with other singles on Zoosk.

Zoosk’s Behavioral Matchmaking engine suggests potential matches through three discovery tools:

  • Zoosk’s Scientific Matchmaking Service®, a daily introduction to a potential match
  • Carousel, a rapid round of profile pictures
  • Search functionality that sorts through millions of profiles

The combination of the Behavioral Matchmaking engine and a company-wide concentration on mobile has helped Zoosk consistently rank as the No.1 dating app for Apple’s iPhone® and iPad® devices. In Google Play, the Zoosk app has been downloaded more than 5 million times.
