Zoosk More Than Doubles Sales in One Year and Surpasses $90 Million Annual Sales Run Rate

Zoosk.com, the world’s largest social dating community, today announced it has grown its annual sales run rate approximately 250% in one year to more than $90 million. Zoosk’s sales growth was driven primarily by sales of its premium subscriptions, which account for the majority of its revenue. The company continues to expand its offerings globally and now monetizes in more than 60 countries.

Zoosk ranked first in comScore’s US Personals-category rankings in November 2010 and second in December 2010, and is currently ranked in comScore’s top ten Personals sites in international markets such as Spain (ranked second in December 2010), Italy (ranked fourth in December 2010), and France (ranked fifth in December 2010). International expansion continues to be a major focus for the company–Zoosk added support for an additional five languages in 2010, bringing its total number of supported languages to 25, and recently expanded its popular TV advertising campaigns outside of the US and into Canada and the United Kingdom.

“We’re growing at an incredible clip as measured by both sales numbers and membership”, said Shayan Zadeh, co-founder and co-CEO of Zoosk. “Our team’s relentless commitment to product evolution keeps us relevant to our community.”

Zoosk first launched in late 2007 and has since expanded into a global dating community that users can access from Zoosk’s website, social networking applications, and mobile services. In 2010 Zoosk introduced its iPhone® and Android&trade applications, as well as Zoosk Messenger, the first downloadable desktop application introduced for a social dating community. More than four million users downloaded Zoosk Messenger in 2010. Zoosk’s iPhone application has been downloaded more than two million times.

In 2010 Zoosk also introduced Zoosk’s Scientific Matching Service℠ (ZSMS℠), a patent-pending technology that evaluates compatibility between Zoosk members to make match recommendations. The service then learns from members’ “yes” and “no” responses to these matches to make better match recommendations in the future. ZSMS has suggested more than 700 million matches since it was first launched in September 2010.

“We’ve made it a priority to enable our members to meet each other wherever and whenever they happen to be online,” said Alex Mehr, co-founder and co-CEO of Zoosk. “Our members want choice–they want to choose who they date, and how they want to date. Our job is to make it as easy as possible for them to get there.”

Zoosk has the largest Facebook Fan Page among all competing dating sites. Currently, over 2.7 million Facebook users have joined the Zoosk Fan Page. Visit Zoosk.com for more information.
